Rent to own homes are perfect for the people with less than perfect credit who want to be able to choose their home now and buy it later.  Typically, you will move into your new rent to own home and make payments outlined in a lease.  Each month, a small portion of your payment will go towards the predetermined purchase price.  This is very much similar to an amortized payment with the exception that there is not an "interest rate" involved, rather a round number that goes towards the purchase price.
